Celebrating a BIG Milestone: Dunwoody UMC Has Packaged 4 Million Meals Since 2010!

By Amanda Whitmyer on August 25, 2023

In support of growing the movement to end hunger, on August 19, Dunwoody United Methodist Church (UMC)  brought together nearly 1,200 volunteers to package 285,000 nutritious meals in Dunwoody, Georgia. This meal packaging event is a part of Dunwoody UMCs’ Foodstock, an annual event in partnership with Rise Against Hunger, encouraging their local community and faith-based members to help people facing food insecurity by packaging meals of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and vitamins into bags.

But there’s more! In addition to this event, Dunwoody UMC not only packaged hundreds of thousands of meals, they also reached a significant milestone of 4 million meals packaged, nourishing millions of lives across the globe. Their partnership is paving the way toward resilience, self-sufficiency, education, empowerment and brighter futures in communities worldwide.

Since 2010, Dunwoody UMC has hosted 25 Rise Against Hunger Experiences, engaging more than 10,000 Hunger Champions to alleviate hunger in remote, last-mile communities across the globe. It starts with a meal, and it starts with passionate volunteer groups like Dunwoody UMC. Below is a recap of their incredible impact over the last 13 years.
