We’ve had such an incredible year — thanks to the dedication our volunteers, staff, and donors have for the communities we serve around the world facing hunger. Let’s take a look back through the year at some of our most impactful moments!

We Launched It Starts With A Mealâ„¢

Our global initiative, It Starts With A Meal™, was launched! With the support of our Hunger Champions worldwide and our sponsor, Red Star Yeast, the It Starts With a Meal movement has raised awareness and driven support for resilience, self-sufficiency and brighter futures throughout the communities we serve. If you haven’t yet, join the It Starts With a Meal movement now!

We Responded to the Devastating Haiti Earthquake

In mid-August, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck Haiti. The earthquake displaced thousands of people and exacerbated food insecurity across the country.  We responded quickly alongside our in-country partners, deploying hundreds of thousands of meals for distribution as hot meals and take-home rations in schools, orphanages and more! As we continue our response efforts in Haiti, donate today to help us support communities affected during this time.

We Hosted Our First-Ever Chef Showdown

In honor of World Food Day, celebrity chefs @Ali Khan and @JJ Johnson went head-to-head in our first-ever Chef Showdown, hosted by @Chef Yisus of @Univision! During this culinary battle royale, we raised more than$66,000 to continue our hunger relief efforts worldwide!

We Worked With Communities to Safely Bring Back Meal Packaging Events

This year, we packaged more than 17 MILLION MEALS, including a 1 million meal event with one of our newest partners, @Liquid Church! Together, we’ve been able to provide immediate nutrition throughout the communities we serve in the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We can’t wait to package with you in 2022! Sign up today!

We Visited Our Agriculture Project Site in Malawi

Over the summer, three members of the Rise Against Hunger team packed their bags and set off on an extended visit to Malawi, where we partnered with the Foundation for Community Support Services to launch the Harvesting Prosperity and Resilience agriculture project in 2019 to support smallholder farmers. Read about the origins of this initiative, what our team learned while in-country and what we hope to achieve in the communities served.
What a year, thanks to you! Our success in 2022 starts with hunger champions like you!
