“School feeding programs can help prevent hunger, increase school enrollment, reduce absenteeism and improve learning outcomes.”
– FAO

While communities work toward a future in which they can thrive, vulnerable people around the globe still have basic, immediate needs. That’s why Rise Against Hunger supports safety net programs that provide nourishment and bolster the difficult journey out of poverty. Our meals are served in schools to encourage increased enrollment and attendance. Parents have peace of mind knowing their children will receive nourishment at school, and children are able to focus on their studies rather than where their next meal will come from. Rise Against Hunger meals provide kids with the nutrients they need to excel in school and break the cycle of poverty.

Impact Story

At the End of a Dirt Road in Zambia, Trackson Finds His Future

Trackson, a 10 year old from Lusaka, Zambia, spends each morning walking a dirt road to attend his rural school two hours away. Attending the Nayamba Community School, Trackson feels fortunate to receive both an education and Rise Against Hunger meals as a part of a school feeding initiative in partnership with Anchor of Hope Charities. Benefitting from daily meals at his school, Trackson’s grades have improved and he enjoys attending his classes. In addition to improving his grades, he has also improved physically, gaining weight and growing taller compared to his previous term.
