The shift in seasons not only brings a time of change, but also a chance to grow our commitment to being of service to others. This Fall season, several of our corporate partners showed that giving back to our communities is part of who they are by celebrating incredible “Million Meal” milestones by hosting Rise Against Hunger Experience events in August through early November. With the help of these partners, we have been able to impact over 57,000 lives in countries across South and Central America, Africa and Asia over the years. Below are a few stories from events held this Fall.
On August 26, Cisco employees gathered to celebrate packaging 2 million meals at their annual Cisco IMPACT Sales Conference held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Meals packaged at this event were sent to our partner program in the Philippines to participants in a four-month training curriculum that addresses holistic needs such as self-empowerment, education and training in health practices, financial skills, and building an environment of support.
Since 2012, over 10,000 Cisco volunteers have helped to nourish over 19,000 lives in 26 countries – including Cambodia, Guatemala, Haiti and Zambia. Our partnership with Cisco has also enabled Rise Against Hunger to go beyond the meals by addressing the root causes of poverty through sustainability projects, disaster relief response and overall capacity building.
Johnson & Johnson
On September 12, Johnson & Johnson employees gathered in New Brunswick, New Jersey to celebrate packaging 2 million meals. Meals packaged by Johnson & Johson employees this year were sent to our partner programs in countries including Somalia and Uganda, helping to alleviate hunger and support those in need in these communities.
Since 2013, Johnson & Johnson has hosted over 115 Rise Against Hunger Experience events in the Czech Republic, Italy, the Philippines and the United States. Over 11,000 employee volunteers joined the movement to make this possible; impacting over 16,800 lives in countries including Cambodia, El Salvador, Haiti, Vietnam and Zambia.
On September 24, during the Wells Fargo Dedicated Day of Service, employees gathered in five locations across the United States to celebrate packaging 1.2 million meals. Employees in Charlotte, North Carolina, Minneapolis, Minnesota, San Francisco, California, St Louis, Missouri and West Des Moines, Iowa hosted Rise Against Hunger Experience events to mark the occasion.
Since 2009, over 9,000 Wells Fargo volunteers have packaged meals to support 10,655 beneficiaries and our partner programs in 16 countries around the world including Cambodia, Haiti, Madagascar, Nicaragua and Vietnam.
In honor of World Food Day on October 16, Kraft Heinz hosted multi-site meal packaging events across 15 offices around the world to package over 1 million meals in just under 24 hours. As we approach the season of giving, we are thankful for our corporate partners who have joined our movement to end world hunger by 2030. Without their commitment, we would not be able to continue to support people in critical need and impact lives worldwide.
