Rise Against Hunger Houston was founded in 2014 and serves the Houston Metro, Texas Gulf Coast, South and Central Texas regions. In 2017, nearly 10,000 local volunteers and partnering organizations, including Fluor, AIG, HPE, Grace Presbyterian of Houston, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, have helped build the local movement to end global hunger. In this region alone, through 2017, more than 4.4 million meals have been packaged to benefit eight countries.
Fluor hosted its first official meal packing event with the Rise Against Hunger Houston location in 2014. The company has continued to support Rise Against Hunger meal packing with Fluor employees and throughout the community, contributing 278,640 meals.
Since 2014, all Greater Houston Rotary Clubs have packaged a combined total of 290,304 meals and counting.
