ABOUT US

Rise Against Hunger Charlotte was founded in 2008 and serves the Charlotte, Charleston, Winston-Salem, Columbia, and Greenville, South Carolina, region. In 2018, more than 21,000 local volunteers and partnering organizations, including Elevation Church, TIAA, and St. Martin’s in the Fields have helped build the local movement to end global hunger. In this region alone, through 2018, more than 35.1 million meals have been packaged to benefit 19 countries around the globe.

Upcoming Event

Rise Against Hunger is teaming up with the Charlotte Hornets this season! We’re excited to be featured as the Non-Profit of the Night on Friday, December 6 as the Hornets take on the Brooklyn Nets. A portion of the proceeds of tickets purchased at this link will support our mission to end hunger by 2030. Grab your tickets today — hope to see you there!

Volunteer Opportunities

There are exciting opportunities for volunteer groups to come to the Charlotte location and donate their time. Warehouse volunteer days are education, fun, and engaging for the whole family. Please complete our volunteer interest form today and we’ll be in touch very soon!

We are also looking for part-time Event Support Specialists to facilitate meal packaging events around the region on weekends. This is a paid position which will typically entail driving a box truck 1-2 hours to event sites, setting up and facilitating a 1-3 hour event with a group of 50-200 volunteers, breaking down and reloading back onto the truck, and returning to our warehouse to unload the packaged meals. To apply, please visit our Careers page.

Partner Spotlight

We would like to thank all of our region’s event hosts in their combined efforts to package nearly 1.6 MILLION meals in the first six months of 2019! It has been a pleasure working with you all in the western parts of North Carolina, the very eastern pieces of Tennessee, and all over South Carolina; you have made a huge impact on fighting hunger in the world and we are excited about the opportunity to continue growing our program with your great partnerships in the future!
